Aciphex Indications

Aciphex Dosage
Aciphex comes in 20-milligram (mg) delayed-release tablets, which should be swallowed whole.
To treat GERD, an adult and adolescent should take one tablet daily. To heal a duodenal ulcer, an adult should take one tablet daily 30 minutes before breakfast.
Treating an infection of H. pylori requires 20 mg of Aciphex, 1000 mg of amoxicillin, and 500 mg of clarithromycin, all of which should be taken twice daily with breakfast and dinner for 7 days.
Aciphex Missed Dose
Unless directed by your doctor, Aciphex must not be double-dosed. If you happen to miss a dose of Aciphex, take it as soon as you remember (as long as it is not almost time for the next scheduled dose of Aciphex). Otherwise, skip the missed dose and proceed with the next.
Aciphex Overdose
If symptoms of over Aciphex dosage are suspected, see your doctor for the proper medical attention.
Aciphex Side Effects
Severe side effects are with Aciphex rarely occur. Nonetheless should you feel any of the allergic reactions below, stop intake of Aciphex and see your doctor:
- Difficulty in breathing
- Closing of the throat
- Swelling of the lips, tongue, face, or hives
Continue use of Aciphex and inform your doctor if you observe minor side effects like:
- Headache
- Upset stomach or diarrhea
- Insomnia or nervousness
- Rash or itching
For other symptoms not listed above that are particularly causing discomfort, tell your doctor.
Aciphex Drug Interactions
Inform your doctor before taking Aciphex if you are taking any of the following drugs below:
- Ketoconazole (Nizoral)
- Ampicillin (Omnipen, Principen )
- Iron (Feosol, Mol-Iron, Femiron)
- Digoxin (Lanoxin, Lanoxicaps)
- Cyclosporine (Sandimmune, Neoral)
You may need to undergo special monitoring or you may be given dosage adjustments during the treatment period with Aciphex. There may be a case where it is not advisable to use Aciphex if you are taking any of the above mentioned medicines. Other drugs may also have adverse reactions with Aciphex. Talk with your doctor before deciding to take other prescribed or over-the-counter medicines.
There are no restrictions on food, beverages or activities while undergoing a course of this acid reflux medication unless your doctor says otherwise.
